We’re so glad to have your voice as part of the liturgical living conversation here on Substack!

  • To learn more about the mission of our guild, please visit our About page.

New Signs + Seasons issues come out on a varied schedule, but we accept submissions up until 5 days before a post goes live!

Upcoming issue themes:

  • Around August 1: Ordinary Time, feast days in June, July and August.

  • Around October 30: Hallowtide (All Hallows’ Eve, All Saints, All Souls), Ordinary Time, feast days in August, September, and October.

(Feel free to submit liturgical living pieces that are outside of these themes - these are just helpful guidelines!)

Submission deadlines: 5 days before the publication date. (Example, for the August 1 issue, please submit by July 26).

(We can have some wiggle-room here, if you have an article that will be coming out around the time of the submission deadline! Just get in touch…)

What kind of posts are we looking for, you may ask?

  • Posts related to our upcoming issue’s theme - generally aligned with the liturgical seasons

  • Any posts related to the Christian liturgical year! General reflections, recipes, history, personal celebration, community celebration, art…it can be as simple or complicated as you like.

  • Posts about particular liturgical feasts, seasons, etc.

  • Reflections on the seasonal lectionary

  • Questions about liturgical living! If you’re in a space where you’re dipping your toes into the Church year and are wrestling with it, feel free to share your questions & reflections. We’re not building an encyclopedia - we’re building a community of support!

  • Your post or article does not have to be on Substack! We can link to your articles published on other platforms.

  • We’ll just be posting links to your posts; your writing will remain on your own platform

Signs + Seasons is an ecumenical guild - our contributors span various Christian traditions. You will probably encounter theologies & approaches that might differ from your own, but all with a shared interest in, and curiosity for, liturgical living.

This is why our emblem is the pomegranate - often used historically as a symbol of the Church, the pomegranate’s many seeds form one unified fruit.
