Guildmembers

In the Middle Ages, craftspeople formed guilds to bond themselves together, nurturing their shared work and offering each other mutual support.

Signs + Seasons is a space to foster connection for anyone who is interested in living the Christian Church year - whether familiar with it or new to it, there’s a place for everyone to explore liturgical living here.

Please meet your Signs + Seasons editors:

  • Kristin Haakenson (founder) - Hearthstone Fables
Agrarian heritage of the liturgical calendar | Art, resources, & reflections exploring the sacred + the seasonal from an artist, farmer, & mom

  • Dixie Dillon Lane - The Hollow
A welcoming place for discussions on education, parenting, family, & history.

  • Carolyn - Medievalist Mama
Explorations of the medieval, the mundane, paraliturgy, and seasonal rhythms of life.

  • Sara Dietz - Whole & Holy (Editor Emeritus)
Marrying the best of modern relational psychology and Catholic teaching on human anthropology, femininity, marriage, and motherhood.

GUILDMEMBERS

Signs + Seasons is an ecumenical guild - our contributors span various Christian traditions. You will probably encounter theologies & approaches that might differ from your own, but all with a shared interest in, and curiosity for, liturgical living.

This is why our emblem is the pomegranate - often used historically as a symbol of the Church, the pomegranate’s many seeds form one unified fruit.

  • The views expressed in posts & publications shared by Signs + Seasons do not necessarily reflect the views of our editors.

CHURCH CALENDAR

Hearthstone Fables
Author:
| S+S FOUNDER/EDITOR |

I’m an artist, farmer, & mom in the Pacific Northwest. Through Hearthstone Fables, I offer support for seasonal, local, liturgical living. Together, we’ll explore the agrarian heritage of the Church calendar - and how we can weave these ancient traditions into our own lives & landscapes.

Liturgical Threads
Author:

Liturgical Threads publishes lectionary-based resources every week for those engaged in youth ministry.

GENERAL LITURGICAL LIVING

Liturgy in the Home with Maria
Author: Maria |

My focus is on liturgical living in the home as a means through which to create a sacramental worldview for our children. I write a lot about motherhood and literature and enjoy connecting those to liturgical living.

The Strawberry Vine
Author:

The Strawberry Vine can be summed up in one word: Integration. Complete integration lies at the end of the process of turning all of ourselves - our hearts, minds, spirit, soul and bodies - over to God. This means becoming "ocular athletes," as G.K. Chesterton put it, in looking carefully and thinking deeply on what is around us and what we experience. Another way of referring to this journey of continual conversion is "cultivating a Catholic Imagination;" marking time properly through liturgical living, developing eyes that see and ears that hear, and witnessing to God in the world through our own hands and hearts.

Windy Poplars Workshop
Author:

At Windy Poplars Workshop I write about motherhood, lifelong learning, literature, and liturgy. Celtic Saints, gardening, nature, and Tolkien’s writings are favorite themes that I weave through many of my posts.
